They're TIG welded and bead blasted for a bright matte finish.The Barbecue Tongs have a unique hinge design, which utilizes spherical joints. This enables the hinge to function properly after normal morphing that occurs during the welding process. This eliminates all slack from the hinge to ensure that the mechanism feels well-defined and repeatable.A finite element stress analysis was performed on The Barbecue Tongs to ensure that the spring will not fail after repeated use. The spring and hinge designs have been validated up to 100,000 cycles with no signs of damage or wear.
